2014 Inktober Challenge

I took part in the Inktober challenge in October 2014, creating 31 inked illustrations in 31 days and posting them to twitter. Here’s a collection of what I produced:

About the inktober process:

This was my first year of doing the inktober challenge. I joined twitter to promote my Miss Mizzou book about a month before, so I thought this might be a good exercise to try to keep my artistic skills sharp. I had never done ink wash drawings before this, so that was also an added bonus challenge.

When I started off the project I got up each morning and quickly took an idea off the top of my head and started drawing. For the first couple of weeks I felt good about my progress and tried to keep it casual. Unfortunately my expectations started to bear down on me later in the month which made the process a bit more tense. Overall it was an interesting project, but I have to say that I was happy that it was over by the end of the month.
